alright so the salon has been slightly slower this week so nothing spectacular has been happening...
I do however have my second photo shoot coming up with Tulsa People! I am nervous about it because they are wanting a pretty crazy hairstyle and are giving me an hour to make it happen but i have faith i can rock it out...at least that is the only thought i am allowing myself to have : )
I have been on the creative team at my salon for only a couple of months but i am excited about it. I hope i get to express my artistic self and i don't get shut down just because i am the newest talent to the group. But i have a strong voice i think and that's what you need to have to let people hear your thoughts. I am going to try at least because boy o boy do i have ideas! Above are a few pics of me and the creative team....
We have a very interesting fall show coming up this October...it is going to be about art. I am not quite understanding how we are going to express it through hair without confusing our audience but i have faith it will turn out. I have a really cool idea that i hope works out and it has to do with pop art! I am excited about it so i will see if it is excepted or not...til then!!

there is a begining to everything....
This will be my first official blog ever. Hopefully i can stay in the habit of keeping up with my blog and updating it and telling people about it or else this will be pointless writing to my self huh?
So...my goal is to simply write about my experience in literally keeping Tulsa absolutely beautiful. I was trying to come up with names for my blog and I considered "beauty is in the eye of the beholder" or "making the beauty within shine even brighter" but those seemed to long but the meaning of them is perfect. My goal in life and my career is to make the beauty that is inside of every single person shine brighter by giving them great hair and for their everyday life, after all your are only as beautiful as you allow yourself to be and if i can make any one person feel even an ounce of confidence then my job is done.
A little bit about myself:
I moved to Tulsa a little over a year ago with my now husband. I worked in an Aveda salon in good ol' Conway, AR. (Very cute town if you ever pass by) I have always wanted to do hair since i was a little girl sweeping up hair in my grandmothers shop. I would always come and visit my cousin Nicole at Ihloff and shadow her and ask her a billion questions until i came to my senses and decided i should just go ahead and move there. So i did. Best decision of my life! Nothing against my old salon..i just needed more and that is what I found here in Tulsa, OK.
True i had to start over like i was in beauty school except less hands in hair and more watching and better instructors who are also known as the advanced masters here at Ihloff. Everyday consisted of filling drink beverages, sweeping other stylist hair, refilling products, separating each individual foil and then handing your stylist each of those individual foils. I would occasionally do a blow out for them or even apply their color but mostly I did what you call "bitch" work. The words of wisdom my dad told told me, when I started my first job in a hardware store where i didn't know the first thing about what is the best horse feed you should buy, kept running through my head. "Becky you are C.R.A.P." Here I am thinking gee thanks dad. Then he continues to explain," Character, Responsibility, Attitude/Accountability, Personality/Perspective. " These are the qualities you learn to acquire when starting your career.
He was right. I sat back and soaked up all of the knowledge i possibly could to become the best stylist i can be and I can always be better. So i got through the assistant program in 6 months and never missed a single class or a single day of work. I attended every extra class there possibly was and have been on the floor since Nov 22 and I am now a Designer 1 stylist and by the way I still have yet to miss a single day of work (knock on wood).
